Medi Meditation #2, Do People Still Remember Robot Chicken?

For those of you who don't know, there is an excellent show on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim section called Robot Chicken. The show is compiled different sketches animated with action figures that make fun of pop culture, the most famous probably being the half-hour long Star Wars parodies.

Seth Green and Matt Senreich, the creators of Robot Chicken use humor and a really quick pace to keep their viewers hooked on the show. They have an odd sense of humor, Most of the sketches take one of two forms. Some sketches take a really familiar situation, like playing the game Space Invaders, and they put it in a different perspective like this:

Most other scketches are completely out of left field, making the viewer wonder how these guys think of this stuff:

Small disclaimer, there is a tiny bout of swearing in this video. Its bleeped out, but you have been warned.

Ok, I said earlier that the Star Wars sketches are the most famous, so here's a longer video containing a collection of them. They do a good job of mixing up the longer and shorter sketches to keep the viewer interested. I think these are hilarious because I was and still am a huge Star Wars fan. This collection also does a good job of mixing up both the kinds of sketches I mentioned earlier. Another disclaimer, there is swearing in this video.

So that's about it, hope you either love or have grown to love this show like did. There's a new Robot Chicken season coming out in December for those who are interested.

Media Meditation # 1, the Amazing Experience that is Halo: Reach

If you are an avid Halo fan like I am, then you probably went to your local game retailer at midnight on the 14th to pick up your copy of Bungie Studio's newest creation, Halo: Reach.

Its finally here! Photo from Bungie.net

Halo: Reach takes place chronologically before the first game, Halo: Combat Evolved, which in my opinion was the best game in the series until this one. I think Bungie knew most Halo fans loved their first game the most too, so they gave Reach a very nostalgic feel to it. I almost feel like Bungie took Halo: Combat Evolved and just gave it a massive overhaul, effectively making their greatest game even better.

If that video doesn't make you want to know what Reach is all about, then I truly feel sorry for you.

Halo: Reach is a very personal experience, you create your character before you play the game and that character is actually rendered when you play the campaign, giving the game a ton of individual meaning.

The multiplayer is back too. Halo has always had one of the best multiplayer experiences any game has to offer, and they did not disappoint this time around either.

I have no idea who the player in this video is, but I wish I were that good.

I hope you enjoyed this snapshot of the beauty that is Halo: Reach. For more info check out Bungie's Reach project page at Bungie.net.

In the Beginning. . .

I was born in Chester, Pennsylvania, and I grew up in Swarthmore, Pennsylvania. I also lived in Leipzig, Germany for six months when I was in fourth grade because my dad took a sabbatical from his work at Swarthmore College.

Here's a picture of the Leipzig Hauptbahnhof, or main train station. There's also a mall in there and I spent a lot of time there while I was in Germany. Photo from planet-wissen.de

I went to see Inception this summer a couple of days after it came out. That movie really made me think.

The Internet is my main method of getting the news. I love checking NHL.com for the latest news in the hockey world. One thing about 21st century media I can't stand though is how much harder it has made citing sources for research. So many different companies or organizations own the rights to the same things, it makes research papers scary.

I'm still an undeclared student at Champlain College. I have no idea what I want to do with my life yet. Ice hockey is my passion though, and I would love to do anything that relates to the game in some way.
